Don Holmes first ventured to Lake Havasu on the July 4th weekend of
1969. He came with college friends, driving across the then
unpaved stretch of highway 95, heading into the infant town of Lake
Havasu City from Parker, Arizona. Don and his friends were packed
into a truck and un-air-conditioned camper, and somewhere along the road
a sympathetic elderly couple gave the passengers from the camper a lift
in an air-conditioned sedan.
Although his first visit
to Havasu was more comical than awe inspiring, it did not discourage him
from visiting the area again, three years later. The next trip was to
the California side of Lake Havasu, to a place known as Havasu Palms.
There he met his future wife, Bobbi Johnson, who lived at Havasu Palms
(they were married in 1976).
Over the years Don became
a frequent visitor to Lake Havasu. He graduated from Cal Poly
Pomona, with a Degree of Bachelors of Science, in Economics. Don
moved with his family (then wife Bobbi, and two young children) to
Havasu Palms in 1991, where he and his wife assumed management of the
park, which included a 131 mobile home park, marina and restaurant.
After Havasu Palms’ land
lease expired, Don altered careers, which eventually brought him to real
estate.

Today he is the
Designated Broker at Heirloom Realty. He has earned his Graduate
of REALTOR® Institution (GRI) designation, and is a Certified
Commercial Sales Specialist (CCSS). He specializes in Lake Havasu
City residential and commercial properties, and continues to work with
his wife Bobbi, who is also a REALTOR®.
His interests include
exploring in his Jeep, golf, fishing, visiting with family and friends,
and watching the stars from the comfort of his spa – all ideal
activities for a Havasu lifestyle.
