Lake Havasu City Community

Enjoy Arizona's coast, Lake Havasu City

Enjoy the casual southwest living of Lake Havasu City, located on the shores of Lake Havasu.  The waters of Lake Havasu have been providing recreation and reservoir water storage for California and Arizona for over 65 years.  The lake was created in the mid 1930’s with the construction of Parker Dam, along a section of the Colorado River.
The city itself was founded in 1964, after its developer, Robert McCulloch, discovered the area while searching for a location to test his outboard engines.  In 1963 he purchased a 26 mile square parcel of barren land, which would eventually become Lake Havasu City.
Today Lake Havasu City is a haven for those who love outdoor living year round.  It’s an active community, which regularly hosts fishing tournaments, boat regattas, rodeos, firework displays, classic car shows, jet ski races, golf tournaments concerts, art shows, off-road exploration, festivals and much more.
The community has grown considerably since it was labeled “home of the Famous London Bridge”, for the historic bridge that was moved to its shores in 1971. Today the population is approximately 50,000.  Its residents are varied, including the winter residents who begin arriving around October, and often leave before the summer visitors start arriving in the spring.
Lake Havasu City has a community college, one high school, two middle schools, and six elementary schools, along with several private schools and trade schools. It is a fast growing community, which has many of the amenities of a larger city, while retaining its small town charm.
